S&P affirms Russia’s sovereign rating at BB+, outlook positive

MOSCOW, Sep 18 (PRIME) -- International rating agency Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings (S&P) has affirmed Russia’s long-term sovereign rating at BB+, with a positive outlook, the agency said late on September 15.

The agency also affirmed the short-term sovereign rating in foreign currency at B and long-term and short-term ratings in national currency at BBB- and A-3, respectively.

Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that foreign investors are actively investing in Russian assets despite the country’s junk rating.

“Rating agencies still adhere to a conservative approach in assessing our economy. However, foreign investors themselves are willing to invest in Russia, our securities and currency, despite the non-investment ratings and geopolitical noise,” Siluanov said.
